We had our sixth dragon boat practice tonight. I'm glad race day is almost here. I enjoy being on the team, but sometimes it's difficult to get motivated to go to practice--mainly because it's hard work and it's tiring! Otherwise, I like being on the water (that surprises me for some reason) and I especially like seeing my friends that I don't see often.

I'm trying this movie/slideshow thing again. Here's a movie of Lou's 64th Birthday. At 1.3 Mbs, it's significantly smaller than the Summer Fun movie which took Donna 16 minutes to download--and then she didn't get to see the movie! So that's not good at all. (These movies require QuickTime; if you don't have it, download the free QuickTime player first.)

I didn't see much of Canadian Idol last night. Tonight, I've watched most of it and I'm just now waiting for the final verdict on our gal, Theresa... yes, she's still in!

Sophia was asleep tonight by 7:55 p.m.! It's like a dream come true. Sharon hasn't had Sophia nap all this week. Finally. Sophia rarely has a nap when she's home with us. In fact, she hasn't had regular naps at home since 2003.
But until this week, Sophia has had a nap everyday at Sharon's (even though I've said several times I didn't want her to). The problem each week was that first nap on Monday meant Sophia wouldn't be tired Monday evening, so she wouldn't get enough sleep Monday night, and then would really need a nap on Tuesday... a vicious cycle. Then, to top it off, we'd have to suffer through one day of crankiness so she'd go to bed a decent hour on the Friday or Saturday.
Unfortunately, it hasn't gone very well this week. Sophia's been pretty owly and having temper tantrums, so Sharon said she'll try another week without naps, but she may have to go back to napping if there's no improvement. My take on the situation is that Sophia has been short on sleep this week and so it's not surprising that she was cranky.
I do not want to go back to a 10:00 p.m. bedtime for Sophia, or rather an 8:00 p.m. bedtime followed by one to two hours of trying to get her to go to sleep--especially with harvest just beginning (which means Neil won't be here to help). I could very well go insane from the lack of free/quiet time. So I'm just going to try get Sophia in bed as early as possible every night so she gets enough sleep and will be less cranky during the day. Hope, hope, hope it works!

Madeline says apple, Anya (a friend), and here (or did I say that one already?).

Sophia's first day at the Fine Arts Preschool is tomorrow! She's really looking forward to it. That reminds me, I'd better take a look at the parent orientation guide now.

I should also go to bed. A very busy four-day weekend lies ahead...
