- making Valentine's cards with the girls. I made the blank cards (45!), Sophia and Madeline applied stickers, I did some stamping, and the girls filled in their classmates' names. They love doing this kind of stuff.
- eating the chicken stir fry Neil made -- chock full of fresh veggies (with this Cantonese Light Sauce). Yum.
- registering for the 2009 session of A Library of Memories -- for free! It's so great to be able to take this class again at no cost because there's so much to learn and do; too much for one session (but it's a system with long-term benefits, so very worthwhile).
- looking up and watching/listening to Weird Al Yankovic videos on Youtube with Sophia. She loves them, and I have to admit, they are entertaining.
- sharing and eating Creamy Lemon Nut Bars for my cookie club at work. Good and lemony.
- getting caught up on all of the tasks for my Organizing 101 class (I have completed four of six lessons). I'm learning a lot in this class and hope to apply what I've learned to every inch of my house by the end of '09.
- reading Inkheart to Sophia and Madeline (the first few chapters). Sophia received this book for her birthday from one of her classmates. It's by far the most advanced book I have read to the girls. Sophia is loving it, but Madeline is understandably less interested. I always read it last (after two or three other stories) so she can tune out and go to sleep if she wants.
- enjoying the scent of brownies baking and then eating some edge pieces. We had to supply baking for a Girl Guide bake sale on Saturday. (I have to note that in the past seven weeks I've made three birthday cakes (plus frosting), two batches of cupcakes (plus frosting), two batches of Rice Krispie squares, and the two batches of squares (plus frosting) mentioned in this post; and all but the birthday cakes had to be packed up to go somewhere. I'm glad to be done with this for awhile!)
- spending the whole day at home with Georgia on Friday. She and I didn't leave the house even once while the other three had to go out several times.
- hunting for hearts in my surroundings (see previous post). I've already found several more to photograph.
- listening to live music and dancing at O'Hanlon's on Saturday, for the Mid-Winter Celtic Festival. There were 10 to 12 musicians on stage throughout the hour we were there. The music was awesome! I danced a Fairy Reel (with five others) and Light Jig (with one other). Fun but nerve-wracking! (And I wish my shoe lace hadn't come undone during the Light Jig; very disconcerting.)
- eating the delicious supper Neil made for me on Saturday evening when the girls
were at Laurel's -- mustard and herb steak (bison tenderloin),
faux-tatoes (cooked cauliflower mashed with cream cheese and VE Cheese Potato
Topper), and raw vegetables and dip. It was an early Valentine's dinner.
- visiting the new scrapbooking store, Scrappin' Your Way, with Sophia today. We both enjoyed looking at all the goodies. Sophia spent some birthday money on glittered chipboard letter stickers (American Crafts Thickers Sprinkles, Cucumber) and some lovely flower stickers (Reminisce Be Mine Flower Glitter) -- and she made a pretty card using both as soon as we got home! I just bought some felt letter stickers (Making Memories Felt Alpha, Chocolate and Pink) today.
