On Friday, May 6, Sophia competed for the first time in high jump, triple jump, and shot put. In a four-school track meet, she placed 1st in high jump, 1st in triple jump, and 2nd in shot put! After only one qualification practice last week, and wearing running shoes older than she is (they're mine; she grew out of hers and we didn't have time to get new ones before the meet), I'm very proud and delighted that she did so well -- but I'm not the least bit surprised! You see, it's like she's been training for this her whole life.
Sophia has been jumping and jumping and jumping... since she first figured it out, which I'm guessing wasn't too long after her first birthday. If I had a nickel for every time I've said, "Stop jumping," to this child... (Seriously, I've been saying this for years! It isn't easy trying to converse with someone who's constantly jumping up and down.) Jumping is just so much a part of who Sophia is -- and she has the leg muscles to prove it. :) Thanks to Neil for going to the meet and taking these pictures of Sophia doing triple jump!
