Picture B&W: Seeing a pattern

I'm seeing patterns in everyday objects... one of the coffee cups I use at work and a quilted book bag made for Georgia by her grandmother (my mother-in-law).

Georgia's earring holder (and a pair she received from L&B for her birthday). I took about 70 shots trying to get this right!

I'm really enjoying this class. Sometimes I forget that I'm shooting for black and white, and sometimes it doesn't seem right to remove a vibrant colour (I love colour!), but I'm definitely starting to learn what does NOT translate to black and white -- and what does. :)
